Happy Pulaski Day

Pulaski Day,  celebrated in honor of the Polish cavalry officer who aided the USA in the revolutionary war, is celebrated as a holiday in Illinois on the first Monday of March.
This holiday for government workers was brought about by a 1977 bill introduced by State Senator Norbert A. Kosinski, a Democrat from Chicago, and signed by Thomas C. Hynes, President of the Senate.

Michigan-born songwriter Sufjan Stevens titled a song "Casimir Pulaski Day" on his album Illinois and Grand Rapids, Michigan hosts a Pulaski Day's weekend for those looking for a more robust celebration to honor the Polish General.

Locally, many find this holiday to be a fine day for an oil change.
