B! Smash 'Em Up

Bridgeport locals circa 1976 gather in Old Comiskey Park's parking lot to host the 1st (and last) annual Demolition Derby. The event was organized by the late Billy Lazaro to cap off an annual softball game held at Armour Park. The Derby would become known as the "10 Inning Spectacular & Shootout" Red Gang members from the predominantly Italian 26th Street side of Bridgeport battled it out against their Irish rivals from 33th Street with their junk automobiles.

A reminder to every hipster-blogger-99'er who thinks you're starting revolutions with tweets and flash mobs: Bridgeport been doing shit like this better and before you were born. Oh, and when the police show up, we'll generally throw a punch back.

This isn't 37th vs 26th but rather guys from 33rd and guys from 26th. There were no 37th street guys driving the cars.

Awesome video though.
